HAIS

Today’s generation is encountering a world impacted by rapidly changing technology, natural environments, and global concerns. They have greater access to information and social media influence, and it is, therefore, imperative to acknowledge some of these contemporary issues. Every day we try and encourage our students to have a positive outlook on life. To be active participants in the world and not just look for joy, but to reach deep for it.

Hoi An International School prides itself on providing an environment that encourages social and emotional growth and prepares students to take their place as positive participants in a changing world. We believe the all-important relationships between teachers and students are crucial to fostering such an environment. Positive relationships, underpinned by care and respect, support both academic and social/emotional wellbeing.

Balancing emotional and academic care

HAIS cares about the whole child and considers social and emotional well-being to be an important part of school life.
Pastoral Care is scheduled in the HAIS curriculum every Thursday morning to nurture the teacher-pupil relationship and make a committed time to check-in, and offer emotional support that our students might need. Homeroom conversations are also not just a registration process, but a time for conversations and support.

HAIS offers diverse activities that give students the opportunity to vary and expand their skill levels, have opportunities to lead groups and enhance their enjoyment and their friendships.
At the beginning of each term, students will have an opportunity to enrol in the ECA programme. ECAs run from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday with prompt pick up afterwards.

Access to school counsellor

At HAIS, we have a school counsellor to further support students’ social and emotional needs. The school counsellor advocates for student well-being and works to ensure that students are well supported at school. The counsellor will be working closely with teachers to assist students in developing the skills needed to navigate any obstacles they may face throughout their educational careers. Students can request to see the school counsellor or may be referred by a peer, parent, or teacher.

Excursions & Camps

At HAIS, we believe that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer amazing field trips, supervised by our dedicated staff. These excursions are carefully curated to align with our curriculum, giving students the opportunity to explore new places and discover new ideas.
Our Week Without Walls excursions for Secondary students take place after the exam period and to places like Hue, Phong Nha and Cambodia. This is an important bonding time where students connect with their peers in a meaningful way and create lasting friendships.
