An informed decision to accept a student at Hoi An International School (HAIS) depends on complete and accurate information. A student’s ability to succeed at HAIS may be adversely affected by factors unknown to the school. Therefore, failure to provide information during the application process may result in HAIS being unable to fulfil its educational commitment to you and your child and may result in a reversal of the school decision to admit your child.

Assessment

The requirements for language skills will vary depending on the Grade/Year level of the student.

Before starting, each student must undergo an Admissions Assessment. Each student’s English language and academic abilities will be assessed during admissions to identify their English acquisition and knowledge level. Further testing may be requested and conducted as necessary.

Should the Learning Enhancement Coordinator (with the assistance of the Vice Principal) decide that additional learning support is needed based on the assessment results, then Specialised 1:1 Support Services may be required at an additional cost, as available.

Once the assessment has been completed, the data is presented to the Admissions Department and the Academic Leadership for a thorough review.

Please note the timeline for a response for students seeking admission to the Early Years and Primary school once all required admission materials have been provided is at least one week.

The timeline for students seeking admission to the Secondary school and A Level programme once all required admission materials have been provided is at least two weeks.

If the student completes an assessment during a school holiday (Summer Break, Winter Break, etc.), the response and decision timeline may be extended.

Placement

An annual Enrolment Deposit (25.000.000 VND) must be paid within two weeks of the student being offered a place at HAIS. The Enrolment Deposit secures the student’s place in the allocated class and will be deducted from the student’s total invoice.

Each student will receive an Offer Letter & Acceptance of Offer to Enrol as a confirmation of the placement. A place will only be offered for a child when the assessment has been conducted and reviewed, the Academic Leadership team approves the placement, all required documents are submitted to the Admissions Department and the Application & Assessment Fees have been paid.

Once the enrolment process is complete, the student may start after up to two (2) business days, thus allowing teachers to adequately prepare for the new arrival in their classes.

PRIORITY PLACEMENT

If a family currently has one or more siblings studying at the school, priority will be given to a new sibling, but a place is not guaranteed.

Scholarship students are also offered priority placement (for the offered classes).
